What is a digital wallet?
A digital wallet is also known as an e-wallet, or mobile wallet. Digital wallets can be used in conjunction with mobile payment systems that allow you to pay for purchases with your smart phone in store (via NFC technology) and online. You can also store loyalty card information, digital coupons & credentials.

How do ‘The Pays’ work?
The Pays create electronic versions of credit and debit cards and assign them device account numbers (DPANs), for added protection. Once this link between the device and the card has been created, you can use this ‘digital wallet’ everywhere that tap-and-go payments are normally accepted, without the need for the physical card.

Are the Pays secure?
Aside from during the initial registration process to set up your debit or credit card, your name and card details are never shown in the app and never shared with the stores because of the unique virtual account number used to share payment information. Your payment information is stored on the secure servers and is encrypted with industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology.

Additionally, to use the Pays, you will be required to set up a screen lock which can be a PIN, password or pattern. Find out more about Intech’s terms of use for using digital wallets

Are my credit and debit card numbers passed onto the merchant?
No, your credit and debit card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple or Android servers and are not passed to the merchant when using the digital wallet. Only a virtual account number is used with the merchant, reducing the potential for fraud.
