Is there a moment you can remember that started your passion in I.T?
I started to develop a passion for IT, or at least an interest in the field of computing, at an early stage in my life. As a child, I spent most of my time staring at a computer screen or playing with electronic components from broken toys or toys I’d break just to gain an understanding of how they functioned. During high school, I was given greater exposure to computing through the subjects that were offered at my school. I finally decided to pursue a career in software engineering after undertaking programming in the subject Software Design and Development during high school. The aspect of programming that I enjoyed the most was the constant problem solving that was involved when trying to achieve a certain solution.

Is there a specific area in I.T which interests you?
Currently I am not leaning towards any specific area of IT as I believe that I haven’t gained much exposure to the field. Although I believe that an area that would interest me in the future would be software development because of the collaborative effort that is required by teams to achieve a specific goal. Furthermore, I also believe I will be interested in developing enterprise or specialist software as they generally tend to be more analytical or technical.

Could you give us some insight into how the Intech scholarship will help you?
Like most students studying at university, I also utilise public transport to commute to and from University. The Intech Scholarship in Information Technology, would be utilised to assist me by covering my travel expenses to and from university. Additionally, it would also be utilised to purchase textbooks that are required for the subjects that I am undertaking and it would help me cover the expenses of the necessities that are required for me to successfully complete my course.

After you graduate, do you have an ideal job / company in mind you would like to pursue?
The ideal job that I would like to undertake in the future involves an environment in which I am able to interact with people within my team to generate a solution to a problem. This ideal job does not necessarily have to be for a big corporate company but I hope the company that I work for are creating innovative software. This job that I would undertake would most likely be developing software for enterprise or specialist software, for example software utilised in a scientific environment.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?
Within five years, I would like to be finished University and gain the skill that would make me competent when working in a software development company. I would also like be able to work on my own individual side projects to ensure that I am constantly learning and staying up-to-date with the current trends in the technology industry.
